The Tenerife Cabildo will carry out 2,000 telephone surveys in homes around the island during May and June this year with a view to getting a deeper insight in to the mobility habits of local residents. The surveys will be undertaken as part of the Plan Territorial Especial de Ordenación del Transporte de Tenerife (PTEOTT), the Tenerife Transport Plan, which has been on the drawing board since 1st April. The PTEOTT is a regulatory document laid out under the Island’s Territorial Order Plan, Plan Insular de Ordenación de Tenerife (PIOT), and it develops the model to be used to regulate the transport sector in line with the island’s territorial plan. The main objectives of the PTEOTT are planning of land based transport systems on the island of Tenerife, outlining routes, future itineraries, location, continuity and integration of the different means of transport available and setting up the strategies for the consolidation of an integrated public transport system. The first phase in the creation of the Plan is extremely important because it involves compiling the data which will form the basis used to quantify and characterise the type of trips which are currently being taken (territorial and urban organisation, current and planned infrastructure, publics transport services, socioeconomic aspects) with a view to evaluating any alternative transport options that would be the most suitable for the island and the population at large. |

Q: Why are there red triangles in the boot and the yellow jackets in the glove compartments in cars that you hire in Tenerife? Ken Wood
A: Hi Ken, thanks for your question. There are a number of things that should always be either carried by yourself or in your Tenerife hire car when you are out and about driving around Tenerife. When you pick up you car at the airport in Tenerife or at your local car rental office you should be presented with a set of documents that include your insurance details and details of the ownership of the vehicle and the car. |
