Las Galletas, Tenerife, Safe surfing in sunny Tenerife: Whenever I see surfers on the TV, I think – wow that looks like great fun but it also looks a little dangerous. For a start they all look so far out to sea, it looks so deep and I often think about what lurks below – ever since Jaws that is.

Let me tell you a secret, I have seen Madonna and her Child in Tenerife. Not the singer Madonna and her Baby David that she adopted from Malawi but the real Madonna and her child - Jesus. Let me explain a little more.

As you travel around the island of Tenerife, you will see many beautiful species of native flora from the many stunning Cacti to the famous Bird of Paradise plant. Tenerife is an island of contrast, with beautiful plants spring up everywhere from the barren lanscape left by the volcanic activity.

The contrasts between the reds and charcoal greys of the landscape and the greens, oranges and reds of the plant life is striking.

Fillet Steak, Sun Sets and another Sad Farwell to Tenerife. Westhaven Bay

 We always seem to leave Tenerife around on our flight bound for the UK at around 9pm so we have developed a ritual of going to Westhaven Bay and having one of the best Tenerife Fillet steak meals that there can possibly be.
