How a low cost flight to Tenerife can turn into a not so Low Cost flight to Tenerife!
(Wednesday, 06 May 2009) Written by hopper

On our latest trip out to Tenerife, we booked with one of the low cost flight operators - RyanAir to be exact.
Whilst the cost of the flights were not expensive (they were in fact very cheap - around £100 return), I was shocked to discover the cost of any extras on the flight. . .

My wife and I ordered from the in flight bar service a bottle of water and a Gin & Tonic, the price of this was £10.30.
The Gin and Tonic was £7.30 and the water, a small bottle cost £3.00, I thought this was very expensive and said so.
I was informed that the gin was actually on offer as a buy one get one free, or 50ml for the price of 25ml - pardon me but on all other flights I have taken both with RyanAir and other carriers, an in-flight Gin and Tonic always consisted of a 50ml bottle of Gordons Gin and not 2 x 25ml of 'non-branded' cheap Gin.
Whilst I accept that inorder to subsidise the air fares companies who offer Low cost flights to Tenerife have to make a profit in other ways but surely £3.00 for a water (which costs less than 50p in any supermarket) and over £7.00 for a Gin and Tonic is excessive in anyones book.
