Cheap Tenerife Car Hire - well Free almost!
(Monday, 02 October 2006) Written by hopper
In this day and age of ‘stripped bare’ travel, the add-ons that travel companies charge for are becoming more and more important to the overall cost of any holiday. Many of the Tenerife flight and Tenerife tour operators (although this is not just a Tenerife phenomenon) now charge a premium for services that had previously been inclusive in the price. Chief amongst these ‘extras’ are Transfers to and from the Tenerife airports and accommodation. When you book your Tenerife flights and or Accommodation, don’t forget to include the cost of transfers in your budgeting. Recently, 4 members of my extended family booked a family holiday to Tenerife, staying in Los Cristianos. As part of the deal struck for this holiday, they were charged £15 each for transfers to and from their Tenerife Hotel. In total they paid £60 pounds for transfers for their 7 day holiday, at the then exchange rates, this meant they paid the equivalent of €84 for this service. If you use any number of the numerous Tenerife car hire companies, you will find that by booking on line, you can hire a car for (in some cases) as little as £70 for a full weeks car hire or only €110. Considering that transfers for a family of 4 can cost around £60, trips and bus fares can easily over the period of 7 days add up to well over £10, you can in theory get Car hire in Tenerife for FREE! I have added a few links some of the car hire companies that can be found at the airport which allow FREE pick-ups and drop-off at the Tenerife Airports. Record RentaCar Hertz AutoReisen One further consideration to bear in mind is that if you get a hire car, you take yourself directly to your accommodation or to the Airport, this can save valuable time as you do not have to travel around another 4 or 5 hotels as the bus picks up other holiday makers on route!
