Way back in 1954, Las Canadas del Teide was declared a National Park of Spain. It is the largest of all the Canary Islands National Parks and is almost 19,000 hectares in size. The Teide National Park, is one of Spain’s most visited National Parks and must be on of its most spectacular, being so close to the 3rd Largest Volcano in the world. 
One of the most defining features of Las Canadas del Teide National Park (other than the summit of Teide), is that it is entirely situated in a hugh depression caused by the volcanic activity of the Island of Tenerife. This cauldron shape depression is surrounded almost entirely by cliffs, creating a stunning landscape that you just have to explore.
