Los Abrigos – Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife

Los Abrigos, Tenerife

Situated midway between El Medano and Golf Del Sur, Los Abrigos is a quaint fishing village with a beautiful harbour area; however Los Abrigos is more than just a Tenerife Fishing Village.

On entering the Los Abrigos village coming from Golf del Sur, you will see a roundabout. Travel straight on at this roundabout and it takes you towards the harbour area. This is where Los Abrigos really starts. There are numerous Bars and Restaurants to be found here. One particular favourite of ours is Tirzon (s/p?). The Tapas here is fantastic, (although it is only served on a lunch time and the meatballs are to die for!)

To the left of this is the town square where the Los Abrigos weekly market is held. Whilst it’s only a small affair, it’s well worth a visit to see if you can pick up some bargains.

If you venture further down the road, you come across the harbour area.

 Los Abrigos Harbour, Tenerife

This site is typical of many a fishing village both in Tenerife and the UK. It consists of a long sweeping road that leads to the sea with many Restaurants and café bars that serve the fresh local catch of the day. Down in the Harbour there are many Fishing boats from simple rowing boats to one or two small trawlers. There is also a crane for landing the daily catch.

Many of the Restaurants naturally specialise in Fish dishes and offer some of the finest meals you will find anywhere in Tenerife.

If you love your FISH, you will love Tenerife's Los Abrigos.

in reply to sue's question about accomodation in los abrigos...We stayed here back in 2003 it was not hard getting an apt here, there is a property rental shop in abrigos itself..accross the road from church next to the resturant on corner..sorry cant remember name of shop but the owners are mick & june,a very nice couple who im sure will be able to help.
We found abrigos really quiet, typically spanish and fab food and cheap, but with the new development of apartments being built i suppose the rental prices may have shot up...we paid 500euro per month for 2 bed apt..good luck
