In our bid to try and keep you informed on the Tenerife forest fires we have just received this email from the Tenerife Tourist Board detailing the latest news and position of the Cabilo de Tenerife. We hope you will find it of interest
Total ban on all kinds of fireworks and explosives
The Cabildo de Tenerife has banned the use of fire works and explosive material in forest areas and villages affected by the forest fires which severely damaged the upper North and North West of the island this week. No explosive material of any kind is permitted in the Forest Belt , the Anaga y Teno regions and in all villages struck by fire. Due to the prevailing weather conditions on the island and the fire alert -the blaze has now been brought under control but it is not completely extinguished - the Cabildo’s Department of the Environment, Medio Ambiente, has enforced a total ban on the use of any explosive materials or the lighting of campfires, which could set off another wild fire in the area. |
