We arrived at the ferry terminal in Los Cristianos (Tenerife) with over an hour to kill before the Fast Cat was due to set sail for our 2 day trip to La Gomera. Trying to find a parking spot near to the terminal was a nightmare and so we went straight down to the ferries parking area, this was a wise move as there was plenty of parking spaces and it was only a short walk onto the front at Los Cristianos through the marina.

It was only when we were down at the ferry entrance that we got a true idea of just how big the Fast Cat really is, we had seen it on many occasions before both docked in Los Cristianos and also as it was making the crossing to La Gomera but had never seen it up close and personal. It really is an impressive sight.

Boarding the ferry could not have been any easier and what’s more, it was on time. We parked the car and then went up to the observation deck, watching all the later cars and foot passengers board the Fast Cat and looking out over the marina, Los Cristianos and the surrounding hills.

Very soon the Fast Cat started to ease its way out of the port and into the open sea where it picked up its speed on route for La Gomera. On board as you watch the Tenerife landmarks get smaller and smaller and the coast line get longer and longer its easy to understand why this vessel is called a Fast Cat.

As someone who loves all things nautical I was in my element stood on deck watching the smaller fishing boats and sea craft as they made their way up and down the coastline of Tenerife.

I would recommend anyone going over to La Gomera just to experience the ferry crossing and to see Tenerife in its full glory.
