I have often read in articles about holiday destinations (Tenerife included) and the ex-pat community that there is a very large dependency on Alcohol. The reasons for this are numerous, not least the cost of Alcohol, the fact that many ex-pat residents of Tenerife are retired and so have more time on their hands, they therefore face more temptation to start to drink earlier than they would when working.
The Tenerife weather is another contributing factor to the higher levels of Alcohol dependency within the community, its so easy to submit to temptation and ‘grab an ice cold beer’ when its hot.
I recently received an email from a recovering Alcoholic who was due to visit Tenerife for their holidays and they wanted to know if there were any AA meetings in Tenerife and if so, could they have the contact details as a safety net for them.
There has for quite some time now been a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Tenerife South, they are based in Los Crisitanos and they have a 24 Hour confidential telephone service:
(0034) 630 478 448
They have just recently launched their website, giving details of their contact details and their meetings.
