Q: What is the strange building that I see in Teneife when I come off the TF1 and drive towards Playa de las Americas (from LC) just before the new Siam Park? Denise Lockwood A: Hi Denise,
Thank you for asking a question here on Tenerife Times. I assume that you are referring to the Magma Art and Congress Center. Click the image above to access a larger picture
The center was officially opened on 22nd November 2005 by the King and Queen of Spain, it’s a fully functioning Arts and Congress center that can hold events for between 100 and 2,500 people.
As well as hosting many parties, launch events and conferences, the Tenerife Magma Center is the Southern Base for the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and they perform there throughout the year with ticket prices costing €20 although there are no more concerts published for the rest of 2008 (as of yet, if this changes, we will post the new schedule here on Tenerife Times.)
The design of the building is supposed to represent a volcanic eruption (the giant posts that support the roof) covered by water (the waves of the roof).
