Thursday 26th March 2009 - Tenerife has today been experiencing an Island wide power cut which stretched from Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the North to Los Gigantes in the South.

It is believed that a bolt of lightening struck an electricity installation causing turmoil throughout Tenerife.

Whilst the power has now been restored after around 6 hours, its feared that more storms are on their way to the island and further power cuts cannot be ruled out.
