OK, so hopefully we’ve whetted your appetite about the best coffee shop in Tenerife (or possibly not just Tenerife – maybe the rest of the world, it really is that good!), well here’s a little more about it.

Every trip my wife and I make to Tenerife we make what has now become an almost pilgrimage like trip to what we believe to be one of the best coffee shops in the world. El Mirador de La Centinela, where the municipalities of San Miguel and Arona meet along the C-822 road (at kilometre 94) must have some of the most spectacular views of any coffee shop not just Tenerife but also anywhere else in the world.

Exit the TF1 at the Guaza – Valle San Lorenze junction, taking the road to Valle San Lorenze. Drive through the village of San Lorenze and at the T junction turn right on the c-822 to San Miguel. Follow this road for about 3km and you will eventually come to a bend in the road (pictured below.)

Enter the drive way and you are at El Mirador de La Centinela. From the outside, this looks just like any National Trust coffee shop you would find back in the UK, but its not, it is simply stunning, the views of the South of Tenerife are spectacular.

Here you can see from beyond Playa de las Americas in the West to beyond the Wind Farms in the East, virtually the whole of the coast line of the South of Tenerife. WOW

But its not just the views, the café/restaurant is itself stunning, it wouldn't be out of place in a bond movie. Infact, if I won the lottery and had millions of euro's to spend on a property, I would have one designed very similar to this, what a building.

Come back to Tenerife Times tomorrow for the next installment of El Mirador de La Centinela where all will be revealed! Including the pictures!

I fell in love with Tenerife last year and then I fell in love with La Centinela.
Breathtaking views over the island, excellent food, what more could one ask for?
What more?
To return to the island, that is my wish.
