The only building that can be found within the boundaries of El Teide National Park is the PARADOR DE CAÑADAS DEL TEIDE. Situated some 2000 metres above sea level, its interior recreates the ambience of a mountain lodge and has terraces with impressive panoramic views of Teide.
The Paradors are a group of profitable state run hotels, the first of which was opened in 1928. All the hotels are luxurious, often in castles, palaces, fortresses, convents, monasteries and other historic buildings or as in the case of the Parador in Tenerife, in a National Park. They were founded by Alfonso XIII of Spain as a means to promote tourism in Spain. There is also a Parador to be found on La Gomera and El Hierro, two other of the Canary Islands. The Paradors can be booked on line at the offical Parador web site. There are often special offers to be found on this site. PARADOR DE CAÑADAS DEL TEIDE Las Cañadas del Teide. 38300.
